Research Leave Requests

Study-Research Leave:

Tenured faculty members, or faculty members on continued appointment, with the rank of assistant professor or higher, holding full-time faculty appointments and having accrued a minimum of six years service, are eligible to request a study-research leave. Following such a leave, an additional six years of service is necessary before a faculty member may be considered for another study-research leave. Salary not to exceed one-half salary will be provided for one full year or a sequence of semester leave periods not to exceed totally one academic year. Proposals for study-research leaves are considered on an individual basis and need to be submitted to the appropriate department head/chair by November 1 of each year for leave being requested for the following academic year.

Research Assignment:

Research assignment is a special category of study-research leave that is awarded to a tenured academic faculty member for one semester of intensive study or research at full salary. A minimum of six years service is required before a faculty member is eligible for this leave. Following such a leave, an additional six years of service is necessary before another study-research leave can be considered. Proposals for research assignments must be submitted to the appropriate department head/chair by Nov. 1 of the academic year preceding that in which the assignment will be made.
