The Department of Chemistry has received the 2019 University Exemplary Department or Program Award, an honor given across the university by the Virginia Tech Office of Executive Vice President and Provost, and Center for Instructional Development and Educational (CEED) Research.

The 2019 winners were honored under the theme of exemplifying inclusive excellence in teaching and learning. In addition to Chemistry, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, the Department of Sociology, and the Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical, and Cultural Thought (ASPECT), all in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, also were honored. Each department receives a $10,000 award that will be transferred to the department budget from the provost’s office.

The Department of Chemistry previously won the exemplary award in 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2009. The awards have been given annually since 1994.
